01 Answer first
Which closure should be used on a glass water bottling line?
Choose only after confirming the glass neck finish, product and pressure conditions, opening and reclosing need, liner or sealing interface, tamper evidence, target-market expectations, cap supply and capper method. Validate application, seal integrity, container compatibility and distribution performance with production-representative bottles and closures.
02 Where it fits
Position in the project journey
Primary-package selection - before capper design, change-parts release and closure-material FAT.
03 Buyer inputs
What the buyer should prepare
- Approved glass bottle and neck drawings with tolerances and samples
- Still or sparkling product condition and target distribution environment
- Opening, reclosing, tamper, branding and local labeling requirements
- Closure supplier, material policy, quality controls and approval authority
04 Allot Tech and manufacturing-resource inputs
What should be clarified or provided
- Compatible closure and capper method for the confirmed neck and product
- Feeding, application, inspection, reject and change-part requirements
- Project-specific application settings and measurable quality checks
- Representative-material trial, FAT and site-verification plan
Allot Tech coordinates requirement, quotation and project communication. Detailed engineering, manufacture, testing, documentation and confirmed service are performed by selected manufacturing resources according to the signed scope.
05 Technical scope
Questions and work to control
Begin With the Neck and Product Duty
The neck finish constrains compatible closure geometry and application method, while still or sparkling water changes the pressure duty. Confirm these fundamentals before comparing crown, screw, roll-on or other project-specific closure routes.
- Controlled neck finish and tolerances
- Product carbonation and temperature basis
- Required opening and reclosure behavior
- Liner or sealing-surface interface
Evaluate Feeding and Application as One System
Closure dimensions, surface finish, orientation and bulk supply affect sorting and feeding. The capper must apply the closure without damaging glass or compromising the seal, with settings, reject logic and change parts linked to the approved package.
- Bulk closure quality and feeding behavior
- Capper head and application method
- Measurable settings and process checks
- Missing, misapplied and damaged-closure rejection
Approve the Consumer and Distribution Pack
Application quality must be verified beyond the capper. Define tamper evidence, opening performance, leak or pressure tests as applicable, transport and storage conditions, and interaction with labels, cases or multipacks using approved samples.
- Tamper and opening requirement
- Seal and leak acceptance method
- Transport and storage challenge basis
- Label and secondary-pack compatibility
Buyer questions answered
Practical answers before you request a quotation
Can the same closure be used for still and sparkling water?
Do not assume so. Product pressure, temperature, bottle, neck, liner, application and test requirements must be confirmed.
Is cap torque the only acceptance check?
No. Depending on the closure system, application, seal integrity, tamper evidence, opening and distribution tests may also be required.
Can a beer-line capper be selected for bottled water?
Only after the current platform, bottle, closure, product and hygienic requirements are confirmed for the specific project.
What materials are needed for FAT?
Use approved production-representative glass bottles and closures in the quantities and conditions defined by the test protocol.
06 Responsibility
Assign the owner before the work is due
Land, building and civil work, permits, import and customs, local taxes, site utilities, unloading, lifting, local labor, travel support and commissioning materials are not automatically included. Confirm every responsibility before order.
07 Common risks
What commonly creates avoidable uncertainty
- A closure is selected from appearance without an approved neck interface
- Still-water capping assumptions are reused for a pressure-containing product
- Torque or application force is specified without a complete seal test
- A glass beverage catalog platform is assumed suitable for water without project confirmation
08 Acceptance or completion
How to know the stage is complete
The closure system is released when bottle, neck, closure and liner data share controlled revisions, the capper and feeder suit production materials, application and seal criteria are approved, representative trials pass under stated conditions, and deviations are closed.
09 Required documents
Records that support the decision
- Glass bottle, neck and closure drawings
- Closure material and application specification
- Seal, leak, opening and distribution test report
- Package approval, settings and change-control record
Evidence basis
Official references and project limits
These primary sources support the general planning principles used in this guide. The rules, evidence and responsible authority for the actual project country must still be confirmed locally.
10 Next project step
Turn this decision into a reviewable project brief
Share the product, container, target output, destination and available site information. Unknown inputs can remain open for the first review.
Turnkey scope is project-specific and is defined by the signed technical and commercial agreement.
