01 Answer first
Which time allowances belong in a water bottling plant capacity calendar?
Include shifts and breaks, startup and shutdown, sanitation, format changes, maintenance, calibration, training, sampling, release work, material replenishment, and planned utility or staffing restrictions. Tie each allowance to an owner and planning source.
02 Where it fits
Position in the project journey
Operating-basis definition — before saleable-output and staffing approval.
03 Buyer inputs
What the buyer should prepare
- Shift and labor rules
- SKU campaign and sanitation plan
- Quality, warehouse, and maintenance coverage
04 Allot Tech and manufacturing-resource inputs
What should be clarified or provided
- Equipment service intervals
- Changeover and cleaning inputs
- Utility and staffing interfaces
Allot Tech coordinates requirement, quotation and project communication. Detailed engineering, manufacture, testing, documentation and confirmed service are performed by selected manufacturing resources according to the signed scope.
05 Technical scope
Questions and work to control
Define the Calendar Period and Working Rules
Record operating days, shift patterns, holidays, labor restrictions, startup and shutdown routines, and any local conditions confirmed by qualified advisers.
Reserve Sanitation and Product-Control Time
Include approved cleaning, sanitation verification, sampling, laboratory turnaround, line clearance, and product-release activities rather than treating them as invisible losses.
Place Changeovers by SKU Campaign
Use the approved SKU sequence to schedule component changes, recipe verification, coding checks, first-off inspection, and material reconciliation.
Schedule Preventive Maintenance and Calibration
Protect planned access for inspection, lubrication, replacement, calibration, safety checks, and restart verification based on the selected equipment and site plan.
Account for Replenishment and Internal Logistics
Consider preform or bottle, cap, label, coding, pack, pallet, chemical, and spare-part movement at the frequency and access points created by the layout.
Test Utility and Staffing Coverage
Confirm that utilities, quality, sanitation, maintenance, warehouse, and supervision roles are available during each planned operating window.
Create Alternate Calendar Scenarios
Model the consequences of a different SKU mix, fewer staffed shifts, a longer sanitation window, or a planned maintenance event without hiding assumptions.
Release the Calendar as a Capacity Input
Approve calendar ownership, revision control, excluded time, and links to the saleable-output model before using it in supplier comparisons.
Buyer questions answered
Practical answers before you request a quotation
Should all available shift hours be treated as production time?
No. Planned support, cleaning, changeover, maintenance, and control activities also use the calendar.
Who owns the calendar after startup?
The buyer operating team should assign ownership across production, quality, maintenance, sanitation, and planning.
Can supplier data replace a staffing calendar?
Supplier inputs can describe equipment needs, but the buyer must validate local staffing and operating arrangements.
What is the minimum economic production run for each bottled water SKU?
Derive the decision from demand and inventory limits together with line clearance, format change, cleaning, first-off approval, startup loss and the time needed to reach stable accepted output. Use a SKU-specific run-length rule rather than a universal number of bottles or hours.
How should a sequence-dependent changeover matrix affect the production calendar?
Record the time, tasks, materials, cleaning and release steps for each credible from-to format change. Use that matrix to group compatible campaigns, protect maintenance and sanitation windows and calculate whether the planned calendar can deliver the required released volume.
06 Responsibility
Assign the owner before the work is due
Land, building and civil work, permits, import and customs, local taxes, site utilities, unloading, lifting, local labor, travel support and commissioning materials are not automatically included. Confirm every responsibility before order.
07 Common risks
What commonly creates avoidable uncertainty
- All shift hours are assumed productive
- Support functions are unavailable on later shifts
- Maintenance is deferred outside the model
08 Acceptance or completion
How to know the stage is complete
Approve when every planned non-production window has a source, duration basis, owner, and link to the output model.
09 Required documents
Records that support the decision
- Operating calendar
- Campaign schedule
- Support-coverage matrix
10 Next project step
Turn this decision into a reviewable project brief
Share the product, container, target output, destination and available site information. Unknown inputs can remain open for the first review.
