Design the Complete Route From One Accepted Pack to the Next

Water Bottling Line Format Changeover Planning

Changing bottle size, shape, closure, label, code, or secondary pack can affect multiple machines, conveyors, recipes, tools, cleaning, line clearance, quality checks, and material control. The format portfolio should be frozen before equipment release.

01 Answer first

What must change when a bottling line moves to another bottle or pack?

The change may affect molds, guides, stars, screws, heads, feeders, recipes, labels, coding, packing, cleaning, line clearance, materials, and quality release across the complete line. Build one controlled format matrix before manufacture.

02 Where it fits

Position in the project journey

Package and operations definition - before equipment, change parts, layout, and FAT materials are frozen.

03 Buyer inputs

What the buyer should prepare

  • Product, container and pack requirement
  • Target output and operating plan
  • Factory, utility and destination information
  • Decision owners and required schedule

04 Allot Tech and manufacturing-resource inputs

What should be clarified or provided

  • Clarified configuration and interface questions
  • Project-specific technical and commercial boundary
  • Required drawings, records and acceptance inputs

Allot Tech coordinates requirement, quotation and project communication. Detailed engineering, manufacture, testing, documentation and confirmed service are performed by selected manufacturing resources according to the signed scope.

05 Technical scope

Questions and work to control

Build One Controlled Format Matrix

List every bottle or preform, neck, cap, label, code, pack, pallet, and reference sample. Map which molds, guides, stars, screws, heads, feeders, sensors, programs, recipes, and packing parts are common, adjustable, or dedicated for each format.

Separate Product, Package, and Cleaning Changes

A bottle-size change is not the same as a product change, label-artwork change, closure change, pack-pattern change, or hygiene release. Define the required isolation, line clearance, material return, cleaning, setup, first-off checks, and authorization for each change family.

  • Parts, tools, settings, storage location, identification, and condition checks
  • Sequence and handoffs across blowing, filling, conveying, labeling, coding, and packing
  • Approved first pack, record, deviation route, and release authority

Review Access and Error Prevention Before Layout Freeze

Change parts need safe removal paths, lifting or handling where required, clean storage, unambiguous identification, and access that remains available after conveyors and utilities are installed. Recipes and mechanical parts need coordinated revision control.

Use Project-Specific Verification

Define which formats are tested at FAT and site, the approved materials, normal staffing, checks, and record. Do not promise a fixed changeover time without the actual format range, equipment, procedure, skills, and acceptance method.

Buyer questions answered

Practical answers before you request a quotation

Does a new bottle size only need filler parts?

No. Blowing or bottle supply, rinsing, filling, capping, guides, labeling, coding, packing and transfers may all change.

Can a fixed changeover time be promised?

Not responsibly without the actual formats, equipment, parts, access, procedure, staffing and agreed test conditions.

What proves a changeover is complete?

Correct parts and settings are only part of it; line clearance, approved first-off packs, records and authorized release also matter.

06 Responsibility

Assign the owner before the work is due

Land, building and civil work, permits, import and customs, local taxes, site utilities, unloading, lifting, local labor, travel support and commissioning materials are not automatically included. Confirm every responsibility before order.

07 Common risks

What commonly creates avoidable uncertainty

  • Open assumptions are treated as agreed facts
  • Interfaces or exclusions remain invisible
  • Completion evidence is discussed too late

08 Acceptance or completion

How to know the stage is complete

Completion is based on the criteria and evidence defined for the project, not on a generic website statement.

09 Required documents

Records that support the decision

  • Confirmed requirement or specification
  • Scope and responsibility record
  • Relevant drawings and review register
  • Acceptance or completion record

10 Next project step

Turn this decision into a reviewable project brief

Share the product, container, target output, destination and available site information. Unknown inputs can remain open for the first review.
